Once the seat of human power and progress, Earth has become a nuclear graveyard. At the dawn of the 21st century, humanity was at its height. But with this power, came great hubris. Driven by a lust for power and domination, China launched a war with its neighbors. The fighting raged, bloody and unceasingly, until the U.S.A. (United States of America) launched a single, nuclear weapon at a weapon factory in China. This sparked the global thermonuclear war that was named World War III.

Within days of the launched, 95% of human population ceased to exist, with many more dieing from radiation and fallout. Within a year, humanity's population went from 3 billion, to around a million. Humanity lived in caves for a period of years, a shadow of its past glory. In the year 2051, the remnants of humanity banded together, and looked to the stars for survival. In 2062, humanity left Earth, and traveled to the Eden system.
